Wallenstein, Meir
(1903-96)
   British orientalist. He was born in Jerusalem. He taught in Palestine (1925-9), and Manchester (1932-8), then from 1946 was reader in medieval and modern Hebrew at Manchester University. He settled in Jerusalem in 1970. His publications include studies of Moses Judah Abbas and his contemporaries, hymns from the Judean scrolls, and piyyutim from the Cairo Genizah.
